Whats your way of removing paint off of original paint?

Ive heard of people using oven cleaner and ive also used it, it does work but you gotta be quick and it usually discolors the orig paint when I do it or doesnt remove all the paint im trying to remove. Do you have any other way of removing paint to try bring the original paint back?
