removing the top tube

i want to remove the top tube from a cantilever frame. would an additional peice of metal - or even using the removed top tube - welded in between the curved tubes be enough to maintain the frames structural integrity for freqent cruising? thanx in advance

without additional reinforsment I this you may have an issue around the headtube. It would only be supported on the bottom and make the front end quite flexible.

im in agreement with cman.......thats alot of stress placed on just the bottom of the head tube

yeah, go ahead an remove it, but replace it with a bunji cord, that way you have a bunji springer. lol
