Starting with a Columbia Speedliner I traded to Maddogrider for this, a Malibu beach cruiser by Casino Bicycles of Calif. ( I'd never heard of them either)because I needed a 26" ladies for this build that I have had in mind for almost a year. It will be given to my wife's friend for three reasons.1)She's my wife's friend and is one of those people that makes everyone around her smile. 2) She told my wife that she liked the other bikes I've built and would like me to build her one.& 3)I like to think about the build,do the build (it's cheaper than therapy),Then give them away no charge, no strings. It's kinda like"paying it foward". which makes me feel good.
So anyway I started with this -

Then the work began. I used a chemical stripper this time instead of sandblasting, then a 4" angle grinder with a cup wire wheel to finish removing the paint from the frame forks and chainguard. Primed them and painted them satin pink with clear coat and gloss white. I should have done a complete mock up first but didn't and paid the price by scratching the rear rack and having to repaint it twice. I also had a bad paint reaction while doing the two-tone on the chainguard and had to do it three times. :( Anyway I added 26" chrome coaster brake wheels with Kenda flames,a rear rack from ebay and a nice set of beach bars.I had a set of Electra pink grips but went with black instead because the grips didn't match the paint as well as I had hoped. As I finished it I took it out for a quick test ride and had even more bad luck and after it was to late I realized that I hadn't tightened the seat post bolt and the seat springs had settled down on top of the rear rack forcing the repaint of it. Also as I rode I didn't pay any attention to the road and had forgotten about how hot it was and that the street dept. had oiled the cracks in our road and now I had slung that stuff up onto the paint.
