I'm collecting parts on sale for the next build off. These hubs were just over 6 dollars each. 350 pesos. So I bought two of them. I thought they would be cheap knockoffs at that price, but still be okay for a large flange hub. But they are the real deal. I'll have to figure how to hook up lights or maybe a loud horn.

I'm hoping there will be an excuse to try a trike - I have triple tree forks, bars and a heap of other take-offs ready to go.
No need for excuses! Just build it!

Great build-off everyone!! Lots of nice rides.
What are the classes for the next build-off? I was thinking about sitting this one out but I'm already getting the itch...

The categories formally known as class, one and class two, which will now be referred to as traditional and unlimited

Otherwise, the same as before… Traditional is your bolt on builds and unlimited is just that. That’s where all your welding and fabrication can occur.

Any kind of style's are ok? I might get back to my tallbike project. Is the muscle bike build in the fall? I've got another little Huffy to bring back to life.

Build Off Rules
  • Bike build must begin on or after May 1st, 2024 This isn't a bike show...it's a build off competition. Do not jump in at the last minute with a completed bike
  • The point is to build a bike and document the progress in the time frame given.
  • You can only enter one bike per class in the build off (can change bikes once if needed)
  • Start a new thread in the forum’s Build Off section and use the bike name as the post “Subject/Title.” Keep a running journal in your thread about your build.
  • Must include before, progress, and finished photos (all in one thread please). Do not start a thread, disappear for 2 months and show up with a finished creation
  • Bike must be ride-able and human powered
  • The Build Off #19 will begin at 12 am North American Central Time on May 1st, 2024 and Final finished bike photos must be posted in the “Finished Bikes” thread by 12 noon on July 31st, 2024
  • Any questions about the build off must be submitted in the discussion section.
  • Please be courteous to others and do not fill their build journals with off-topic posts. If it continues after a moderator warning, your account will be nuked.
  • This whole competition is all in good fun. The whole point is to be creative, build something cool and have fun!

Traditional Class
This class is pretty much bolt-on, mix n' match parts, with no structural modification, i.e. cutting / welding, to the original starting frame. Very minor modifications are acceptable like adding minimal bracketry, grinding off tabs, etc. This is more of an old school build category created for folks who may not have pro level fab and welding skills. If it appears that your modifications are too extensive you will be moved to Unlimited
Below is an example of a build that would fit in Traditional

Unlimited Class
This class has no restrictions on frames and forks. Can be completely fabricated from scratch or heavily modified factory frames…feel free to go crazy!

* Electric and gas powered builds are acceptable submissions, but they must be pedal powered as well

* It is up to the contestants to interpret these rules set forth and enter the correct category

I originally planned to sit the summer BO out this year, but then a friend sent me a hint and today I picked up this for free basically around the corner:

And as my wife requested a better bike to move around on the campground, it seems a suitable ladies campground rat will be in the makings...
