I picked up these 2 Schwinn 5 speeds this week. A fantastic complete '81 Cruiser 5 and a rough '79 Spitfire 5. I'm kind of glad the Spitfire is rough so I do not have to worry about what gets done to it which is not much other then a new shifter cable for now. Both have HD 12 gauge spokes and the Spitfire has the Atom drum brake in the rear.

2 great bikes!

I had thought Schwinn only made one style cantilever frame in the 70's and later. I look forward to seeing your results.

Me as well, I find it strange they brought back the heavyweight frame. As the middle weight seemed to be fine for fenderless balloon tires. Oddly they used a heavy weight frame and still left the fenders off.
