Hmm, well, the main builder of Elgins prior to '38 was Columbia/Westfield. If it's one of theirs, it's older than '33, which used an L prefix. That's the oldest year I have on file. They started over with A in 36, and skipped letters somewhat randomly. So it wouldn't be a direct count back. You could check out Mr. Columbia's site, he's the expert, and could probably tell from the pic if it is or isn't. -Adam
