Well... I'm waitin' on a customized (split into two packs)48V 15AH V2.5 LiFePO4 Battery Pack from Li Ping, I was gonna roll w/four 12 Ah 12 Volt AGM batteries at least for the testing phase... but as they total a whopping 33.5lbs vs the far lighter LiFePO4 *shrug* well, the only hard parts about...

More backwards forks bicycles, I know lets motorize them!

While normally I subscribe to the "to each their own" philosophy... when ya start trying to pawn off builds to the general public that are so cheap & built so poorly they're dangerous it really starts to bother me - the backwards forks are only the tip of the iceberg unfortunately, an obvious...

Sweet! Defo take a buncha pics & keep us posted, I love seein' an old bike come back to life  Ya prolly have something in mind already but I thought I'd throw up these pics I found of the 30's paint details & tanks in case yer interested (not my bikes)... ...later Rollfasts seem...

ROLLFAST....Can you help me date this?

I just realized that I completely forgot to mention I dig yer bike  Defo a nice find! Looks to be in good shape other than the surface rust, even the rear rack looks to be straight & true - kinda uncommon actually as it often served as a second seat lol

ROLLFAST....Can you help me date this?

The 30's Rollfasts had a straight downtube, in the 40's came the introduction of the curved downtube, but due to your dropouts & headbadge I'm gonna agree w/Rustinkerer - most likely early 50's :D (in the 60's they began their cantilever frames I believe). (click to view) 1930's 1040's...

    Motorized Bicycles

Wow frameteam2003 - that's one of those bikes that's extremely deceptive, looking at just the finished ride ya'd be hard pressed to realize just how much thought & effort went into it - a truly unique build that's so clean it looks factory! Glad ya posted the build pics or I'da been fooled too...

    Motorized Bicycles

Gain to cost? Other than the expansion chamber & carb it's pretty much just labor - but even those items aren't particularly costly. The gain is ofc a far better running & reliable engine. If your primary concern is speed - then ya needn't worry too much about getting a fancy carby, the added...

    Motorized Bicycles

I'm sorry, but I don't post speeds w/o substantiation  As for engine mods... port n' polish, lapped head w/custom gasket, custom intake & exhaust manifolds & gaskets, expansion chamber, port matching, CNS carburetor, indexed plug, fastener & hardware upgrades, and ofc the shiftkit...

    Motorized Bicycles

lol, while it may be indeed a Chinese engine - it's no "kit". The bike & even the motor itself is heavily modded  Appearances can be deceiving 8) > http://s305.photobucket.com/albums/nn21 ... ?start=all

"Cheap" is just potential in disguise...

Perhaps I'm misunderstanding you - but all the above pics (except the ol' Harley ofc) are nothing but the engines you get in the cheap kits... but it's true there's been some modding goin' on ;) Before I even fit the engine to frame I took the motor apart, dressed the fins, did a port n'polish...

"Cheap" is just potential in disguise...

A heck of a lot quieter than a lawnmower actually, it's funny you should mention that as my neighbor is buggin' the heck outa me at the moment - thinkin' 7am on a Sunday mornin' is a fine time to mow the lawn o_O Problem is, the stock exhaust systems on these kits is one of the very first...

"Cheap" is just potential in disguise...

Flattered to be sure & thank you for the complement - but I'd not go so far as to compare my bike to the pre-1911 Harley Davidsons or any of the beautiful ol' boardtrackers... "Inspired by" no doubt, but there's others that have made replicas far closer in look and feel  I made any...

"Cheap" is just potential in disguise...

Thanks all 8) About the title - there's been much (well deserved) criticism regarding the cheap Chinese engine kits, substandard components, poor castings, ill conceived mounting techniques and incorrect instructions... add in the propensity for people already looking to save a few bucks...
