Anyone know where to find Higgins ser#'s? or how to date rear hub? I came across a lightweight i want to use for a build it has a totally enclosed type chain guard the sprocket has the letters JC Higgins in it a 2 speed thumbshifter with neutral but the hub says 3 speed and they are not dated...
hey guys i have a womans 26 inch with the ser# B61683 under the crank housing is this what they call a "B" model also anyone know what year it is i can only find as far back as 1948

is there a site with ser#'s to determine year of manufacture for hawthornes etc, sorta like the 1 for schwinns at bunch o bikes? also when did they stop using the adjusters on the rear axel?

Okay all here it is i picked a frame from the pile out back i'm not sure what make it is, i'm thinkin hawthorne by the shape of the headbadge pattern and screw holes on the paint, but i like the 2 speed OG shifter

I am totally hooked on the bike thing!!! i had 1 mountain bike and suddenly i have over 15 vintage rides in the garage this isanother yardsale find frame and fork,i then painted and added cranks,bars etc
i picked this murray up at a yardsale in pieces it needed front wheel etc ,then i decided to airbrush skulls and flames on it, added small apes,springer turned out ok i think
