    The cone sprocket is actually welded solid and bolted to the mid drive. freewheel is at the rear wheel. The problem with it is that there is a slight twist on each tooth of the cone sprocket. In the proper direction this would aid in a smooth shift whereas rolling "backwards" causes the chain...
