New project, no idea what it is!

Thanks for the info guys, I've never actually owned a Schwinn before. I did think the shape was early but 1936 is great. As theres only the frame left I'm going to rebuild it with new parts to build a comfortable cruiser.

New project, no idea what it is!

Hey chaps, I picked this up the other day as a new project bike but I have no idea what it is! It came with a skiptooth crank, New Departure hubs and modern rims and the whole thing was painted an awful blue. Heres a few pictures, the only identifying numbers are p2613 stamped under the bb...

    Wards Hawthorne

Cheers, although I'm pretty happy how it has turned out so I'll keep it original-ish...

    Wards Hawthorne

Don't worry the green wheels aren't staying on the Wards, just using them until my wheels are built up, then I'll replace with skiptooth chainwheel and correct wheels and hubs. I rebuilt the hubs up, New Departure blackout hubs so I'm now thinking this is a WW2 bike, not earlier as discussed...

Can anyone tell me the length and thread size for the New Departure rear axle? Mine is screwed so needs replacing. Thanks!

    Wards Hawthorne

I got the forks straightened today, replaced the headset and crank bearings, gave it a clean and gripped bars with some Brookes tape I found in the shed.

    Wards Hawthorne

So I sold my Monark Deluxe Black and the Murray Mercury so I Have now acquired this Wards Hawthorne. Its a super nice patinated skiptooth with original Wards tyres. Forks are bent but I'm hoping my buddy can straigten them. Frame is stamped 036753 upside down on the downtube, can anyone date it...

So pretty much finished minus a few rolling tweaks. Well stoked on the result. On to the next one.

Have decided to stay with the cottered crank as the chainline is soooo much better than with a tapered crank. Anyway ahd a play today and put the Murray back together I've been building for my friend. New (old but respoked) wheels looks the part.

Thanks chaps, I'm really stoked on it. Just waiting to sort the BB as its been a complete nightmare. So close to being rideable though. Shame I live in the flattest county in the UK!
