    TRADITIONAL Midnight Flash

Joe Crawford recovered a seat for it. Black sparkle vinyl with Huffy stripes.

@deven_science of Alchemist Bikes put his test on another one of my builds. (The bars, not the bike)

1971 Huffy Twin Stick Mag Wheel

Nice offer! But too big. Thanks though!

This was the roundest I found that fit. I tried a vintage Shimano... that didn't work. So this fit the bill and everything has been built around it. So this is it.

I wanted a high flange hub for the front wheel, but the Union one I got, with pressed flanges, had one of the flanges break loose. So it moved slightly. So… welded and smoothed them out.

Some small stuff while I have bigger things happening for other projects. For a previous Huffy resto-mod, I was really happy with the result of modifying the seat post clamp to accept a cleaner bolt, so I’m doing it on this one.

Back half is almost done. The chain guard is getting touched up, so that will go on last.

Not what we had in mind... but that's funny!

I also have nothing to base that on other than using Murray as a model. Murray's serial numbers varied to whom the bike was built. 502 = Sears. X15 = JC Penny.... etc etc. There's a list out on the internet somewhere. I don't know that Huffy used W as Western Flyer, but on an actual Huffy...

    TRADITIONAL Midnight Flash

I have a pretty good idea of what I’m doing for this entire build. I just need to do it. For the guard I’m going with a Solid Stack. I have a local pinstripe artist that helped me conceptualize the name concept and corresponding artwork for the guard. But this guard needs a lot of work...

    TRADITIONAL Midnight Flash

This is project that happens to coincide with the RRBO. It should be for the MBBO, but it can’t wait, as it’s due for a show in October. So, you’ll have to suffer through a muscle bike build. The bike is being built to compliment a couple black and gray show cars/trucks. Because of the...

If you drive down, I'll give you one. 4 hour trip for a $5 tube seems totally worth it. :D

Anybody sniffing BO 19 in the air?

Yup, what he said @Pondo . You need to find leverage. I ruined a hub in the past. My takeaway was the hub was more expensive to replace than the freewheel, so I should have tried something different. What I don't like about what Two J's is showing is that the spoke protector isn't actually...

Anybody sniffing BO 19 in the air?

I'm going to be doing a build at around the same time, so I figured I'll throw my hat into the ring. It's muscle, so it'll be the black sheep. But it's mainly to keep me focused on progress.

1971 Huffy Twin Stick Mag Wheel

Today was about mounting the fender and setting the brace. So we (I have a welder from work I’ve hired) played around with ideas and configurations and landed on drilling a hole through the brace, setting the length inside the fender by mounting it, then tacking the bolt to the brace. Then I...

1971 Huffy Twin Stick Mag Wheel

Here’s the evolution: - wanted a mag front wheel for the drag fork, opted for the Skyway. - I bought a set because of price. - I bought them white because it’s going to get painted. - he said he wanted a disc brake in the front. I told him he was insane. That it couldn’t be done. It’s...
