How to get the coolest email address.

Honest, it's not spam for an email website, this is where I got my last email addy from. :) Take a look on "Mail.com" - anybody want this address?

Pimping: Nice new tyres to be seen with at night (I suppose)

Cyglo! Uber-cool but not available yet as far as I know. Also much to my disappointment they do not allow you to make instantaneous 90° turns or create jet-walls. I've just ordered a pair of Monkeylectric lights from a store in France and I'm very looking forward to trying them out, the only...

    Noisy Electra saddle

Squeak-creak, squeak-creak, squeak-creak, squeak-creak... I've got the same problem with the saddle on my new Electra Vince. I tried oil and it did nothing so I'll try grease next time I take it out for a ride.

Hacksawing a stuck seat-post - yes or no?

That is nevertheless a cunning trick! I've never removed a bottom bracket or cranks before but I think it's time I invested in a couple of new tools, I wouldn't mind giving it a try. Thanks Beau.

Hacksawing a stuck seat-post - yes or no?

I just bought an old but rather nice Dawes Omega MTB for £55, it's in good condition BUT the seat-post is stuck... very, very stuck. It's a lightweight steel framed bike and I think - just to make things interesting - the seat post is aluminum and has been hammered into the frame by a gorilla...

Cheap and easy conversions for old non-suspension MTB's?

That's impressive. 8) I wish I had a workshop and knew how to weld, putting an extra bar under the top-tube completely changes the look. I wouldn't have even known that that bike had started out life as an MTB.

Cheap and easy conversions for old non-suspension MTB's?

Thanks DrT. :) TBH I hate the position of the saddle on your bike but that's okay because it still looks fantastic. I love the idea of putting struts on the front, it never occurred to me that you could do that. Is there a way to avoid moving the saddle on a mountain bike all the way...

Cheap and easy conversions for old non-suspension MTB's?

Cruisers are still uncommon in the UK but cheap mountain bikes are everywhere so I was wondering if anything can be done with outdated quill-stem, non-suspension mountain bikes like these (pictures are from ads) to pimp them up. Could I put mustache handlebars on a mountain bike to...

How many bikes do you own?

Four, but at least one of them will have to go because I really only have space for two:1980's Raleigh Chiltern roadster(aka Raleigh Tourist), 2006 Thorn Club Tour touring bike, 2004 Ridgeback Comet hybrid and my new Electra Vince cruiser.

Shop Open, Not Done, But Open

That sucks, I doubt it would even be an issue in the UK, a lot of bike shops here sell secondhand bikes although they usually want twice as much as what I'd pay for one. Are there any work-around solutions like selling bikes "on behalf of a customer"? BTW, I don't know what the shop looks like...

Let's see your Pashley Guv'nor style bikes!

I'm loving this thread, it's got me fired up to do something with my old Raleigh Chiltern. :D

    Electra Bicycle Pics

Thanks BlackSheep, that's good to know. :) The Indy was actually my next choice but it costs a lot more (£450 for the Vince, £680 for the Indy - I'm in the UK btw) and the simple black color-scheme of the Vince was a safer choice for me than the head-turning fire-engine red of the Indy. With a...

    Electra Bicycle Pics

BAM.. my bank account just took a big knock 'cos I just ordered one of these 5 minutes ago! I've been staring at photos of it for ages so I thought "oh f--- it, I've got to buy it or I'll go nuts". I hope it turns out to be a good bike; does anyone know if the chain guard and mudguards (fenders)...
