Weird Paioli bike

Not mine, spotted at a motorcycle race. Paioli brand (that's a motorcycle suspension manufacturer! http://www.paioli.com), made in Italy, weird oversize lugged construction, seems foldable/colapsable?

KIT BIKE!

It's a kit bike! You buy the kit and you can build the bike in diferent configurations, like Lego or Mecano! Look what I found at Charlie Kelly's website (http://www.sonic.net/~ckelly/Seekay/wei ... _stuff.htm WEIRD BIKE STUFF, SEE ALSO PAGE 2), via Makezine.com:

My Italian is a bit rusty... I'll just clear coat over it...

Smart idea, but I can see why it never took off. It would have done well 100 years before, when people were willing to build things, or alter them, but now, most want out-of-the-box ready.
