Re: KLUNK-ROD

GOod frame/fork for this build. Are you gonna use some drum brakes?

Re: KLUNK-ROD

Decided to do a little work on this thing today.

Still not really sure of what I am going to do, but I have some ideas.

Who knows...it will either look cool or really goofy. :D

Here's a really lame blurry photo of the parts collection so far...

Did some quick sanding...I hate sanding...so let's say it's less than perfect.

A little primer on the front...

Now a little off-white satin...

Now for the forks....

Letting the bearings soak overnight in some Simple Green.

Re: KLUNK-ROD (the fun has begun)

Applied the stencils last night and laid down the black.

I used Krylon Gloss Black Appliance Epoxy paint....goes on very smooth a shiny.

The key is to lay it on really thick on the second coat.

Now I'm really not sure which way to go with this...ha ha.

I'm thinking a set of black wheels would look really cool on this bike now.

Not sure if I want to use the gold stuff or not. :?

Re: KLUNK-ROD (06-23)

You really need a Cool fork! LOL.

Looks great!

24" wheels with Thick Brick White Walls! Yeah Baby!

Re: KLUNK-ROD (06-23)

I think I'll mock it up with the gold first to see how it looks.

I'm on an extreme budget after my recent double whammy Electra purchase.

Re: KLUNK-ROD (06-23)

well since i knew it was your bike i figured itd go black and white but i guessed scallops........and im glad i was wrong looks great with the claws!

Re: KLUNK-ROD (06-23)

Did a little mocking up this evening now that the paint is dry.

I may have to end up changing the name on this since it looks like I'll be going a different direction than originally planned.

Probably won't use this wheel set since I promised them to my Dad, but I'm thinking black rims would look pretty tough.

Oh well, it's fun to play around with stuff. :D

Re: KLUNK-ROD (MOCK UP TIME)

Are you happy with the paint ? I was eyeballing it at Lowes the other day and was curious how it holds up to abuse?

Re: KLUNK-ROD (MOCK UP TIME)

Well...I think after a few more days of drying it may toughen up even more.

I have never had any luck with spray paint...I follow the directions, apply 2 or 3 coats and still seem to be able to scratch it fairly easily...maybe that's just the nature of spray paint???

It went on really well and has a real glossy smooth look. I'm not sure if the 100 degree temps in my garage are speeding up or slowing the drying process.
