It was cool have VerBoten right next to SteamRoller as I worked on this. Two completely different bikes that just happen to have the same frame.

The braces came out nice. I still need to tweak them just a little and trim them up a bit.

Looks like you sit ON Verboten and you’ll sit IN Steamroller, if that makes any sense.

You know me, you know what I mean! Hahahahaha!

I get that. There is a bit more of a cockpit feel on SteamRoller and VerBoten has a higher seat as well as a higher front end.

Here is a view from the non drive side of the bike now that the chainguard is secured in place.

And some pics of both SteamRoller and VerBoten side by side with the chainguard secured.
I really enjoyed seeing these two together.

I sense a 'perfect paint Friday off' coming in your near future! SR looks like VB's tougher, wilder, dark - side "build brother from another mother" . The paint scheme could emulate that.

Without the white walls, of course. Gloss black, or dark gloss charcoal on matte black, leave the spokes on the wheels raw.
The bike will be cool no matter what you paint it. Maybe sparkle up the rear naner springs so they match the front fork?

I like gloss black / flat black combos, but I'm not feeling that for this build. I need a little more contrast with the inner/outer tube paint scheme to show off the inner stripe.

Don't know if it is everywhere, but looking at the spray paint colors available at Home Depot, it looks like there is a bit of a shortage going on. If so, I sure hope it is for crafty home projects and not some other nefarious use. Well, I ended up driving around to two Home Depots, one Lowes, and one super Walmart. Not a whole lot was grabbing my attention. I did find this Krylon Satin Peacock Blue. that was kinda cool. Then I picked up some Rustoleum Flat Red Primer (so many of the other primer are way to brown in my opinion).

It's freaking 98 degrees with a heat index of 108 today, so I didn't feel like doing anything outside. After chilling on the TV sofa, I decided I at least need to see what these colors really look like. So I pulled out my trusty sacrificial paint test fender and took the cans to the lane.

The primer looks as expected, but this blue sure does look a lot lighter than what I was thinking the cap looked like. I'll let this dry and stare at the pics tonight, then reassess in the morning. My thoughts in the store were the outer sides being blue and the inner sides and rear being primer. Gotta chew on this a bit more. I have plenty of other paint cans in the floor and shelves of the shop that I might have to play around with a bit.

The blue looks more of a semi gloss than a satin maybe that's making it look different?

Yeah, I had just painted it on there, so it was probably still a bit wet. We'll see tomorrow.

SaltHammer update: Just heard that it SOLD today!

It is just tooooo dang hot to work on anything. 111 degree heat index today!!!
The paint dried on my test bed fender. The blue is a true satin and it is a cool makita like color, but I am just not feeling it at all for this bike. Got some other ideas in mind, but not do any work on SteamRoller today. It is far too steamy a day.

It's wicked hot

Man I got something to update just in time. I scrolled away to Page 2.
After I got home I went out to the shop and dug through some paint cans and tested out some of the silvers, metallics, whites, and blacks. I even threw a KeyLimeGreen in there. Painted up the testbed fender with six different colors. The Carbon Mist and Pearl Mist combo showed possible promise. Even the moparish keylime and flat black peaked my curiosity. One idea that keeps rolling in my head is how the inner color will be like two racing stripes, so that is why I have been thinking silver or white.

As I walked back under our porch to hold the color fender against the bike, I had a lightbulb moment.

Right there next to SteamRoller all this time sat my Electra Rally Sport. Two white stripes down the middle of a cool coppertone-ish orange. I didn't even bother looking at the fender colors next to the build.
