Kingfish I haven't fixed he fender yet. Think I will just make it a bobbed rear, tell I can find a good set of Raleigh fenders to redo the rear.

This weeks randomness....

Did a rear wheel change on BlueX. I had the cool Sturmey Archer hub with drum brake that didn't stop very well and the gearing was wrong for the bike.

Got a Free! Nexus three speed with coaster, hooked it up to the vintage SA shifter rode the snot out of the bike this week!

Had to get a new Driver Licence... Lost mine :roll:
This place is a block away from the Secretary of State...


Also went on a 20 mile ride with the British Bicycles of Chicago and the TailDraggers
My kids and I had a Blast!

Time for a random update...
My kids getting ready to ride to school yesterday.

So far this school year the weather has been good enough for them to ride the mile and a half to school everyday.

I rode BlueX to work yesterday, weather was perfect.

Yesterday I rode to work in heavy rain and 45 degrees.... On the way home 28 degrees :shock: and this white stuff on the ground.

Ok time to get this thread going again....

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

I rode home from work Tuesday night around 6pm 2" of snow on the ground with heavy snow falling.
Didn't want to stop and get cold so I got some action shots...

Today's update....
It's has been snowing for over 36 hours, for a total of 14 fresh inches of snow
Rode to work this morning main roads fine......

Made it the two miles to the lakefront path. Freshly plowed. Had the whole path to myself... Passed a few runners (those people are crazy!)

The ride down the lake was awesome!
20 mph tailwind and lots if blowing snow.

Back on the main road.

In front of my favorite building.

Had a blast!

Streets and Sanitation did a good job getting those streets clean, the bike lanes on South Chicago Ave were cleaner than the car lanes. Good Luck on Sunday when it's -30 wind chill & more snow.

Thanks Luke, Not sure I could handle the heat in Australia.... And the spiders are really BIG.

The city sure did a great job.

The main roads were as good as they could be with the weather and the lake path had been plowed and salted.

One of the bonuses of living in the city.

I worked Friday night, coming home a 11pm temp was close to 20
with a 25 mph south wind (tailwind) roads were a little slippery from all the blowing snow.

I had two side gusts of wind that literally pushed my front wheel hard to the right
The studded tire was the only thing that kept me from falling.

Yes Sunday will be interesting.

Temp. Is going to stay about the same all day... Winds are suppose to pick up.

Big shot out to Trader Joe's
All Chicagoland stores only open 10-6 today so employes don't have to be out in the worst of it.
My store has crew in it from 4am-midnight daily. Earliest people show today is 8am-all out by 6pm.
