I see alot of these are built using the typical conversion kits that bolt on to the rear. I've tried asking some ebay sellers about the "hollow hub" wheels that are used, but I only get vague answers.. Is it just a freewheel? Or like a front wheel with the axle removed? I wanna use one of these kits, but I can't find wheels with wide rims and "hollow hubs"...

Here's one I just finished for the current anything goes build off.

You probably won't find hollow hubs on wide rims, but if you're not going to wide you could lace your own.

I have seen people use front wheels with a custom axle, never tried it myself. But I imagine it would work like a wheelchair wheel.

Yeah, I gotta learn to lace sooner or later anyway I guess. Finally found a place that sells the hubs aswell (bicycledesigner.com for anyone wondering). Are there any other methods used on trike wheels, besides the hollow hubs I mean?

This was a project for a friend's son. He has a pituitary gland issue and is very slow in reaching his average age height goals, he was too short to ride a 20" and just a little to tall for a 16". So a trike was the answer, and because the kid is rad....we have it a little style.

and disassembled the bike and cleaned every part...put on a new Electra mandalay saddle and grips...I will be putting on some fatter tires and I may chop the rear fenders...it looks pretty good so far I think...rides quite nicely...has a 3 speed nexus hub..

Dude, why do you have so many trikes?

The real question is, "Why don't you have so many trikes?" LOL

Honestly, I think I may sell off some of them...or buy more. It's hard to say really. I have 30 trikes now.

Long trikes

Here is a Worksman factory front loader model u that I bought several years ago. I rebuilt the drive train and removed the deck and springs, a woodworker friend built the cabinets to turn it into a mobile book mobile that we donated to the local friends of the public library org. It was later painted and decorated to match the local friends of the public library's other items. Hum, I don't have a final photo. I'll have to take one next chance I get. This concept was based on the one in Chicago that got all kinds of press.

before:

after the wood was done.

The top hinges to the sides, the front opens to support the top revealing shelf space. It gets used at the local farmers markets to sell books.
