I gotta go measure mine to be certain, but i feel confidant that the oem one (a wald tubular steel unit, if we're talkin about the newboy) is 13/16". The laidback post you linked to is 7/8".

PS- get the oem one from niagara/amazon.com instead of from worksman, and save a few bucks.

well, i'll be. It's marked a 22.2mm, which works out to 7/8". Weird, and a good thing i didn't go ordering any round aluminum stock to replace it just yet.

But, yes, the oem is Wald, and while most wald stuff is beefy, narrow-diameter tubular steel posts are famous for bending, unless you're runnin' 'em slammed (which many of us are.) That's why I'm gonna be experimenting with the round aluminum stock. (The alternative, as i see it, is to ride around with a spare post.)

I decided at my (age) experience to play it safe and go with a straight post. Thanks for all the advice!
