70s schwinn varsity 10 speed single speed conversion. wheelset is a vintage Brampton flip flop high flange, I originally built it as a fixed gear and used one of the schwinn chrome "S" stick shifters as a rear brake

no pics but basically I used the same housing that's on the rear brake lever now and a shift cable to the brake, it does lock up the wheel....I wouldn't recommend it as a front brake. I've heard of fixed gear road bikes with bar con ( bar end shfiters) as a rear emergency brake.

that's a cool bike. i'd narrow the bars about 2" each side.
 
that looks great. nice score on the green. i love those old schwinns stripped down. i built one a few years ago, rode it around for awhile and then traded it for a chainsaw.
