There are no news updates but they must have found the pilot because there has been air silence for about an hour.
They just announced that the pilot has died. No other information for 24 hours per Defense Department policy. It’s sad, especially this time of year but at least they found the pilot. They sometimes don’t find people up here. Two, three summers ago a hiker went missing twenty miles from our cabin on the North County Trail, in the Rock River Wilderness and has not been found. Jets at high level resumed training today and I hear one overhead now, but they are so high you barley hear them.

Der Baron und Ze Hound

Here are some pics of the how everything came together on the bottom of the HoppedUp Camel along with some side shots.

Tonight I worked on the Baron. I decided to leave his skin red just like Red Skull. I just took a sharpie and colored in his mustache, hair, neck medal, eyebrows and eye. Then I added his monacle and the spike on his helmet.

I didn't feel that glue was gonna be enough to hold the head on the action figure body and I remember we had this Tacky Putty stuff. I just wadded some up shoved it in the neck of the figure and the Baron's head. Then I added glue at the touch points.

Glued on the helmet. I am very pleased with how the big head works with the body, so I glued the helmet on.

Tried out the gasser tank (which was on the back of the Lil Baron).

Then I added the top fueler dragster wing along with the big Baron Dark Helmet behind the engine, and added the old Red Skull in front of the gasser tank.

They just published a map of the crash site and it starts only two and a half miles from our house. The area is still closed while they get the live armaments and other secret stuff accounted for. This area is one of my favorite areas to gravel ride in. I did a lot of 20, 40 and 70 mile gravel rides last summer that included trails that go right through this area.

I miss your adventures, I sometimes hope that they're a glimpse into my future. Can't wait for next year's ride reports! Roll on with the recovery, brother

Saving another from the crusher. It’s missing the engine. And it’s getting a set of Real Riders and some detailing. Leaving the patina.

And earlier I was feeling crafty. I’m no sign painter obviously.

Today I noticed our local Walmart had a special assortment of 1/25 scale plastic model kits. $15 to $20 each. Lot more expensive than when I was a kid.

Maybe I will get one to put back for next year's kitbash build off.
