There's gotta be a hobby shop in a strip mall somewhere that you always drive past and always tell yourself "I should go in there one day" but never do.

'32 Ford Dra-Hag-ster
Back from the northwoods. Spent some time on the bench today. My large mitts don't handle the small parts and details like they once did. Finding it a little tougher than I thought it would be.

Another thing I've run into is that the Testor's liquid glue doesn't seem to grab hold on the spray painted parts. I put a light gray on the the engine before I started gluing on the shiny stuff. The gray seems to come off in the glue brush. It's now clouded the jar of glue. Might switch to rubber cement. Your thoughts?

Some updates, and a loosely set / not glued partial mock up.

Definitely have to have : bare plastic ,to bare plastic; the glue melts the plastic there for bonding the two together. Welding them together so to speak.
Clean the paint away from the areas where you need to glue.
Also: scrape chrome plating off any chrome parts in the area where the glue will be.
Go back to H L, and get the tube of testors. Make sure it's the orange tube. Because the blue tube non-toxic takes like a hundred years to dry it does not do a very good job.

Thanks KJV! Very helpful. Lucky for me, Hobby Lobby is just a ways past my other destination, Home Depot in a few minutes.

Do you have an old mom and pop hardware store in the area? They usually have that kind of stuff, although modern model glue isn't as good as it use to be.

ROBBIN HOOD & LITTLE WILLY.

1. 1970 1/2 Z28 rear-end & springs.
2. The springs for original straight axle from Willys kit was in the box. But,
axle gone;
( probaly under a 55 Chevrolet )..
used a drive shaft from the 70 and a half Z28 for the axle.

FAIL:

Time to dig for parts.

I broke out the Super Sculpey this morning, and made an insert to fit inside Jack's box to help support the car, and Jack himself.
Also, you may note that Jack's eyes have had a bit more work done on them.

This is so much fun! @gowjobs , Dave, give us some background on how you got into this kind of model building / scratch stuff, what is Super Sculpey, the kits that you are drawing parts from (that wheel combo looks very familiar....**bobs eyebrows**) etc. I know you don't want to tip all your secrets, but maybe fill us in on the process a bit. Really enjoying this!

Flat black interior...

These engine parts are sooooo small.

Remember the stained glass tank panel on RaTs GaSs. Still some left in the can...

Loosely laid-on-there mock up. No glue, just getting ideas .
