Got a little work done today.

I wanted to test ride the bike to make sure the Duomatic was working correctly. I only had one pair of close to matching seats so I threw them on.

How did we ride these for miles at a time when we were kids?

I didn't; banana seats were the thing when I was a kid (even on bmx bikes, because you built your own bmxer out of the musclebike you already had). Those seats you've got look kinda like proctology tools.

    Very cool...I like the details.

And you're right, those seats are painful. :?

So much to love on this build!
The attention to detail is really coming through.
Even the angle of the handlebars matching the tubes.
    Keep it up!!

Great build all around so far. Love the bare steel with the stock decals. Awesome photography by the way.

Awesome rebuild ! i like the raw industrial look of all these metal finishes , its just 2 springy leather saddles from perfection

I found a couple spring clips to mount my flashlight/tail light.

I also found a more fitting temporary saddle. Much better than the GT seats. Now I need another one to hold until I get my Brooks'.

Looking really nice! The copper wire brake cable holder is a brilliant idea!

Re: Rare Bird- '37 BSA Tandem- Tied and soldered

Since Klunkers see some extreme use the bike needs all the strength it can get. I decided to try my hand at the old school art of tying and soldering the spokes.

I watched as each joint looked better and better as I learned. I still need to get the rear wheel.

I like all the details. Have you tried synchronizing the cranks so they are even?

Re: Rare Bird- '37 BSA Tandem- Back it up

The wire I used to tie the spokes was too big so I cut the front loose and will redo the front later this weekend after I get the correct wire.

I did take the bike out to join my Coaster BC brothers and sisters for our annual Tandem Night Pub Pedal. The bike got lots of positive comments from the other club members.

I have ordered two new Brooks Saddles- his and hers Flyer models, basically a sprung B17.

I showed my buddy your tail light. He loved it. He's into old Civil Defense and military stuff.
Just letting you know, he's going to use that on his bike!
