After the cantankerous old guy next door died, a couple (emptied) radio cabinets found their way to the curb and since I'm a big fan of Art Deco and Mid Century style, I took the better one with the intent to do something with it someday. I decided to make it into a coffee table of sorts. Legs were beat, so I replaced them and reinforced the base of the cabinet where they screwed in using scraps from an old pallet (was just particle board). Of course, there was no real back to it since it was intended to sit against a wall, so I made a back reproducing the front, though I changed it a little by adding stainless steel boat engine compartment vents instead of speaker vents. The rest was just paint and speaker cloth. Not sure about it as a coffee table, but it can always change its purpose (or become a "radio" cabinet again). I don't have any "as found pics", just after I started working on it, but this probably isn't all that interesting, anyway.

Nice. I picked up a cabinet from the 1960s recently, put wheels on the bottom, and hooked my decks. Gonna make an inner structure that lifts up with the lid.

My daughter loves it so far, spinning vinyl and scratching most of all.

I found most of them aren't worth much, but they're neat pieces of furniture (I guess that can be said of a lot of furniture, which is odd as most new stuff is overpriced trash or quality you pay dearly for and older stuff that's lasted is usually quality and at their low values, they can be modified to suit). I keep drawing supplies and such in mine for now (though there's a bluetooth speaker inside). I don't know what people will do with my bikes when I die, but nephew #1 has already claimed the cabinet to reinstall a turntable.
