So as many of you know I am somewhat a connoisseur of undesirable automobiles and my newest creation is no exception. I started out with this 1991 Plymouth Sundance. Previous owner was fixing it up for his daughter's sweet 16 present... remanufactured engine, new fuel tank, new fuel pump, new shocks, new exhaust front to back, new alternator, and much more. Long story short she thought it was ugly and didn't want it so I found it on Facebook Marketplace, went to check it out, other than a dead battery and a faint mouse smell it was a decent looking and running car so I bought it for $600 and drove it home.
Battery $60 new at Rural King
First thing was this quarter panel stripe kit for a 2006 Dodge Charger $20
Next I had to get a crazy big spoiler and a cool exhaust tip for it. Exhaust tip $18 Spoiler $54.99
Then I went with the
Primax 7 spoke rims $256.94 (yes that's the price for the set) and
Lexani performance tires $164.10 (set of 4)
Huge shout out to Safeway Tire of Kokomo, Indiana for installation of the new rims and tires and handling them with the utmost care. They made me a deal on installation and did the mounting, balancing, and installation for free in exchange for the old tires that were on the car. (Had great tread but starting to dryrot) $0.00
Even got new valve cores and some sweet blue marble swirl Dude's Dice caps $10.50 to match.
Lug nuts were $21.99
Yeah so much better.
Then carbon fiber vinyl wrap for the hood.
5 ft x 15 ft roll was $70
Yeah few wrinkles so it will get redone when I get time. Also doing the roof and trunk lid.
Then of course I couldn't leave that stock AM/FM cassette player in the dash so I upgraded to this cool touchscreen headunit from eBay $38.99 and wire harness was $5.99
As it turns out it didn't fit where the radio actually goes since I deleted the storage cubby and the rear defrost control and made a new home for the radio.
Before
After
Painted the grill center black $1 and had a coworker / friend polish up the headlights. $0.00
Did a rendering with grand theft auto 5 to get an idea what it will look like.
I also did some more boring stuff under the hood. New plugs, wires, cap, rotor, ignition pickup, throttle position sensor, Manifold absolute pressure sensor, Idle air control valve, new air filter, oil change and filter, new brakes, calipers, and hoses for the front end as well as painting the calipers red, new spline drive lug nuts to keep the rims on the car, new lift supports for the hatch (yeah the whole rear hatch lifts up) hidden hatchback for the win! Can easily fit 3 bicycles in there... Ask me how I know...lol.
And I'm currently waiting on more parts from eBay so I can post up more.
Many of you will probably ask that magic question... "what's under the hood?" so I will dispell any rumors now... It is nothing at all special. It is a bone stock 2.5L non turbo 4 cylinder making 100 horsepower. For comparison that's about half the power of a stock Toyota Camry. But the MPG is amazing and it runs great. Eventually I have plans to build up a new engine for it while driving it stock. The new engine will be a fire breathing 2.2L twin cam, twin turbo, based off of Dodge's 1981 concept car the M4S which easily cranked out 440 horsepower with a single turbo then called in engineers and they tuned it to just under 800hp with the twin turbo which pushed the M4S to a top speed of 197.4mph. I won't be pushing mine nearly that far but a nice little 400 horsepower sleeper in a 2600 lb car would be fun for an economical daily driver.
So that's a little of what I've been doing since I have been away from the site but now I am back and the creative juices are flowing.
