I like to document builds wether it’s car or bike so I’m tossing these 3 in one thread. First up is my wife’s spaceliner. It’s the mate to my men’s bike. It will be cleaned up, greased and equipped with bright green tires (wife’s a Seahawks fan so teal and green it is). I stripped it last night so my wife can clean the big parts while everything greasy soaks in purple power.

up next is a scwhinn I sold a friend. It’s also stripped waiting for him to do some scrubbing. This one gets ape hangers and matching orange tires, chain, grips etc. original paint just gets cleaned up.

the last one is my newest project to replace my mbbo bike I sold and regretted. Haven’t touched it other then to use it as a test for my early
birthday present from the wife. Hoping the bike stand helps with the torn up spine. This one gets apes, a banana seat and maybe gears. Other then tires it will be all used parts again. Haven’t decided for sure since my wife’s bike is up first.

This one didn’t take long to put together when my buddy stopped over tonight. The seat is out of place but he wanted comfort and he’s a big guy.

the original cranks were bent, I did save the sprocket for when he tracks down an age appropriate crankset but it’s a rider.

The wife is a lot more ocd about cleaning but it’s coming along. She’s in love with the color combo. Not sure why my phone is turning photos sideways in here

After today’s shakedown ride for my wife’s bike she ordered some more parts. It’s getting green pedals, chain and a set of chrome apes. Already Changed the seat because she hated the monster that came with it! Started raining so short ride today.

I think she’s finally done ordering color match parts and she loves the small ape hangers so we are about done. Gotta figure out the chainguard and because I’m a dummy I’ll be recovering a seat with the help of YouTube. Never ever tell your wife that something is possible unless you want to do it!

I agree on keeping old paint. Coppertone is my favorite and was only offered 63-68 or so, by Schwinn.
Both of my oldest bikes were stripped bare under the new paint before I got them.
The old sprocket on that Schwinn will go right on the those newer cranks instead of the Huffy sprocket and look just like original, just need a pair of older looking pedals. They are probably both 44 tooth to boot.

He was too lazy to clean the scwhinn sprocket. I still have it and will get it back on that bike when I can motivate him. Coppertone is the reason I purchased that bike, it just never grew on me. I seem more attracted to the less loved non scwhinn bikes. I have another scwhinn frame and fork in much worse condition sitting around waiting to be built yet too.

I was going to scrap this jaguar because of the bent cantilever and the fact I’m not a big scwhinn fan but I couldn’t bring myself to do it. Kept the parts I wanted off it and rebuilt it out of spare parts. Not sure what I’m going to do with the .... thing since I already have one bike up for sale. But I was bored so I built it.

I bet an old fashioned bumper jack could take that bend right out, if you were so inclined.

Wife’s spaceliner has been a flawless rider since it was completed. I really like how it turned out. Now I need to decide if I’m building the last project or saving it for the build off.
