I built a bike for the mbbo and sold it because I got a good offer and I miss it. Enter this build, starting with what I think is a colson (believe that’s what someone told me) a pile of grungy used parts from a local vintage bike shop and some wheels that are laying here unused.

no final decisions on wheels yet, I can’t decide if I want gears or not yet. It is stripped down and cleaned up. The bare frame is where we are starting for this build. I’ll grab some photos of the parts later.

Can't go wrong with a Columbia/Westfield

Great skeleton to start a build with. It will be fun to watch you 'flesh it out'.
RaT oN~!

In between all the spring yard work the wife is forcing me to do I dug out the rest of the parts that I purchased for this build. Complete with tags lol. Going to go buy some sissy bar hardware tomorrow and get the thing on the bike stand

The plan with the seat is to wrap the front with a bandana. The bike will be grungy so this seat fit the theme!

Cool goodies and cool tags.

Pretty certain that this is a Columbia, not a Colson.
At first glance I thought the tapestry on the wall was some sort of tank insert! It actually looks kinda cool like that!

No tank insert, but this has me thinking about making one, it won’t be the weird tapestry though.

finally grabbed some hardware. Same slant too the sissy bar as my last one. I weirdly like it. Still undecided on a lot of it. Fixing the seat is the next step so I can bolt it on and test fit wheels!

Yeah I believe it’s a Columbia also here is a photo my Columbia for reference. Interesting build off frame either way.

Since it’s still raining time for some inside hobby’s. I don’t think the red wheel is the right choice for this build, so thinking these crusty chromies. Thinking about running the aluminum front rack I had in the pile, doesn’t fit the muscle theme but I like having a rack.
Mostly just trial and stare at this point, always open to opinions. Only thing I have ruled out for sure is painting the frame.

Good thing I got some spoke wrenches and started to relearn when trueing, while this thing reminds me of my monark it’s not near as roomy.

now for the reason the red rim was discarded is my addiction to colored tires. My wife got me these neat blue ones as part of my birthday present, every bike I’ve built except my old mbbo ride, my spare parts Hiawatha and my kids bikes sport a colored tire. 2 belong to friends but this build had to get blue tires since I don’t personally have a bike with them yet.

Today was a lot of back tracking. Rear tire had went flat so pulled a different tube out of the pile. Peiced together a chain from what was laying around and got the bike on the ground. Stem was too loose in the forks so it’s got a more modern stem robbed from my wife’s back up bike. Don’t tell her .
Took it for a cruise in my basement and something in the peiced together bottom bracket isn’t right, it’s gotta come back apart so I can make the crankset ride level.

Took it for a short shake down ride after fixing the crankset with a cone nut that fit these bearings properly. Ended up having to ditch the aluminum pedals as one of them is shot.

Not sure what this sprocket came from but out of my stack it’s currently the winner.

next up is figuring out an insert of some sort and covering the torn part of the seat. My parts stash is getting thin since I scrapped a lot of it. Not sure what I’m doing for a kickstand yet. The mount area is a weird shape

Nothing subtle about that blue. I like it though.

It’s not done per say but I’ve been busy between work and the engine swap in my car, but this thing rides so much better then The spaceliner I have way more invested in so I’ve been riding it too save on gas! Big block truck gets a stellar 7mpg in town.

hopefully the car is done next week and I can get an insert and kickstand Put on this thing. Poor tires are going to be dirty as heck for final photos!
