Hey,

Question ??

I have taken apart the "Model D" hub, cleaned, rebuilt, greased, and assembled it.

Once I have the axle shaft in and set where it will rotate freely, I them
try to re-install it in the frame and the axle shaft becomes loose and
sloppy.

What am I doing wrong ??

Did I not tigheten the axle shaft properly ??

Thanks,
BC

This is not the answer to your question but here are the ND model D assembly instructions:

If I understand your problem correctly, it sounds as though one or both of your locknuts is not sufficiently tight against the bearing race, allowing the axle to move while you're tightening the wheel retaining nut. Watch the opposite side as you're tightening and see if it moves. :|

Thanks so much guys.

I think I am headed in the right direction.

Should be able to try #10 over the weekend.

Thanks again,
BC
