I put a shock ease on a Hawthorne for my build off bike last year, it looks really good IMO.
Then I dragged the thing around the country, and rode on alot of varying terrain.

In my experience with the shock ease, I don't think adding disc brakes will be a problem for the fork to handle. As you said, you won't be doing any uber heavy riding or braking.
I'm curious to see how it works out.

And I agree about this type of thread, I've learned alot and gotten some good ideas. Now I'm just about ready to build my bike.

Yea, the Shelby girder-style lower leg/truss combo should hold up ok with the disk brake caliper. After experimenting with different springers over the years, I find the Schwinn and Shelby superior operators....(single pivot style). I watched your Hawthorne build last year & fully approved of the shock choice.. Got all the parts for my Hawthorne build except for the fork. Now doing the waiting game on ebay..Any ratters here have a womens Shelby springer laying around?:wink1:
