since i started diggin these old bikes and rats, i have fallen in love with these big beefy, mechanical lookin forks that came on the older bikes, i bought this at the swap meet at Peddler's last weekend (bicyclerick's shop in KC, MO) from an old timer. 65 bucks - they've already been re-built and repainted. i cant wait to see what they end up on, i have a pretty good idea, and yes, ive already started gathering parts for the rat rod bike build off 3 so watch out boys!!! man, i LOVE these forks!

ill bet these things weigh 15 or 20 pounds!!!

Makes sence to call them crash bars, sorta like on the bikes that ponch and jon rode in C.H.I.P.S

well like the old guy called them...they are crash bars.

if you were to lay the bike down the bars would help keep the side of the bike from making contact with the ground ( protect the fairings). More practical for motor bikes and faster speeds  . mainly looks for the cycle world :)
