This bike started out as a 90's Huffy Santa Fe in Ugly Purple. I wanted to make a cruiser that looked 50's or 60's. But got this one for free and I paint for a living, so I decided it wouldn't be hard to make it "era specific"

Not the actual bike, but looked just like this

I was originally going to flat black it. And since I was going for the old look, decided to do a Red Oxide primer. Liked it so much it stayed red.

I swapped out the stem for a more "appropriate" one and sprayed both that and the kickstand silver. Rode it like that for the better part of a year. then decided it was time for some storage, and a new seat. I also took a bottle cage and wrapped it in an old leather belt. Holds your beer from wabbling and kinda hides it from Johnny Law.

The rack is actually made out of Polypropylene. (I work for a Plastics company now) Can hold four 6'ers of your favorite beverage

After the initial run I found out the hard way the rack was missing a few things

During the same ride, I discovered that my tires were shot. (after realizing something was rubbing bad....while in the middle of a parade) My bead had broken and my tube was protruding between rim and tire. So a new set of Cream Fatties were ordered. Sadly they wont fit in my fenders now, but I'm working on that.

I decided that the flat black of the rack didn't really match the overall flow of the bike, so it was sprayed the same silver as the chainguard and stem. I did the cupholder the same silver.

During the time I had the rack off for paint. I finished up something I've been kicking around for awhile. An airhorn. The company I work for also does Fire extinguisher recharging, so I took one of those and threaded some soft copper tubing into the outlet. Intalled a schrader valve in the top and I now have a fully rechargeable airhorn that can let out about a 45 second blast at full volume. The horn came from one of those 12 volt airhorn kits for your car. It is extremely extremely loud. :D

I also did up a rear reflector. This thing was originally a motorcycle turn signal I believe. I gutted it and put a reflector in place of the missing lens. I recently found a 15 LED headlamp that is the same diameter. It will be a taillight soon.

Re: My 90's Huffy.

I've got a Huffy Sante Fe identical to your first pic! I couldn't tell if it was purple or brown! Lol! Thanks for the inspiration! Now it's gotta be my next project bike!

After looking through the Headlights and Taillights "Show me" I go to thinking. Maybe I could electrify my reflector. Not a whole lot happened until I was digging through the junk bin and discovered my old 15 LED headlamp that got busted at work.

It is almost the perfect diameter to pop into the housing :D

Will need to do a little grinding of the chipboard to make it fit perfectly, but it will fit without a problem. The little capsule in the back of the pic will be my battery housing. Will keep you posted

Nice, I like the overall feel of the bike. Great idea on the horn and the taillight looks cool as heck!
