Murray Western Flyer Muscle Bike Build

As I’ve lamented here, my son pretty much confiscated my Huffy Dragster XL I built for myself as soon as I finished it. He’s been pretty much riding it exclusively when we go out.
A few weeks ago I picked a super clean Western Flyer for $100 that had an awesome set of Carlisle Lightning Darts on it. I used those for my Schwinn and told my son that I was going to use the frame of this one to build myself another 26” muscle bike since he took mine. I mocked it up with the wheels off the Huffy to get an idea of how it would look. He looked at it and said he really liked the chrome chainguard and that he liked the look it without fenders, and asked could we take the fenders off the Huffy. I said “No, but we can leave this wheelset and put the banana seat seat and apes on the Western Flyer!” He was like “We can do that??” (he’s new to bike building) so that’s what we’re a going to do. I took everything off the Huffy and built the Western Flyer for him, and I’m going to order myself another set of fat n skinny tires, apes, and a banana seat. I kinda wanted a white seat and grips on the Huffy, so that’s what I’m going to do this time around.

I’m going to order another set of apes and the white seat white the intention of putting on the Huffy, we’ll probably try them both to see what looks best.

This works out great because I prefer the Huffy frame and I like the bobbed fenders.
