Awesome instructional video http://vimeo.com/32434171 with Mondraker team DH rider Fabian Barel been using this cornering technique on the 29er as there were times when the front would wash out on both rigid and fully bikes. Cornering stuff at 11:20 but whole vid worth a look. I could slough it off on 26ers but actively practicing this technique on 29ers has made a huge difference, no more washouts. Works on both GT Peace 9r SS rigid and RIP9. Kinda makes me want to drag out the old 7point3 again.
Pivoting the bike under you really makes the knobs work, and no he didn't bail. This works especially well for 29ers on steep, sharp, off-camber switchbacks where any use of front brake used to be a problem.
