You are 100% correct. It is not a stock Monark fender therefore it has extra room because stock Monark fenders had deep edges that took up the space. When i am riding the bike it looks much more normal(?).

it looks like theres a ton of room so the springer fork is able to articulate without the tire bashing up into the fender and potentially destroying it
