I was wondering what the maximum width tires would fit on my 1965 26'' schwinn typhoon.

My rims are 26 x 2.1 and I have a rear sidepull brake on my bike at the moment.

Do you think i could fit 26 x 2.3 or 2.4 without getting tire rub on my frame?

It will be tight. I have a set of kenda 26x2.15 on my 66. The are pretty snug

I ordered a pair of maxxis dth 26 x 2.15 last night, hoping they fit!

Thanks for the advice modelcarjedi and Wildcat. Sweet rides to!

When I first built my black bike I had the tire too far forward. I added some chain and moved it back. Everything has just enough room now. Good luck and ad some pics to this thread!

Rim width also effects how wide the tire will actually come out too. And different tires don't always add up to what they say. I've had cheapy white wall marked 2.125, that only show as 2.0 with calipers. And I've had tires marked at 2.125 show at 2.25...

I'm running 2.0 on my '61 flying star, 2.2 continentals rubbed
But I've got 2.125 on my '57 mark 2 jaguar, with fenders..
Then I've got 2.5 on an unknown '59 middle weight canti.
All Schwinns of similar era, all different

I know that doesn't help, but long way of sayin I think the maxxis you ordered will fit, haha.
