I think after that Stranger Things BMX came out, the BIG manufacturers realized that people want cheap nostalgia bikes, and BMX is nostalgia now. This 26 is currently available new, the wheels will probably show up on builds in a few years.

To be honest, a black set would look good on the RockRat. And the bars and stem

The bike looks great! I've never seen those dropouts. are you sure it's 1950?
I can't recall how we got to the year originally, serial number I think...but I'm fairly certain it is. Looks like '50 was the last year of that style dropouts IIRC

Here's my BMX style Klunker build just finished up last week. Found the frame, which was only marked "Cruising USA" for $5. After sandblasting, the welds were strengthened and disc brake mounts added. Am pretty happy with how she came together, especially for my first Klunker build.

I felt the same way too about that sprocket, but after staring at for a while, I felt it a bit much as far the gold goes and took away from the frame color, so I tried this and I think it fits, also it’s 39T instead of the 44T
Better my old tired bones....
