As long as the forum keeps enough traffic to keep it going I'm good with that. RRB forum is largely an ahole free zone. FB, not so much.
I like that the forum is a little smaller and community focused, with regulars and relationships.
My experience with FB and other social media is mostly everyone screaming their accomplishments into the cacophony and hoping to be heard above the noise.
Hard to follow something like a "build" over time in a setup like that.
 
Every day i go to my FB bike groups there is at least one that someone is asking how to clean rusty chrome for the 900th time.
I love being able to search and find several responses to the topic that i can mash up or pick and choose between.
The experienced people don't hang there so you're left with the moderator and a bunch of newbies.
It's like you never get past training wheels.
Inevitably it becomes clear the knowledge base is back at the sites like this one and cabe.
