I woke up yesterday around 5AM to get the coffee percolatin' and check emails. I find a PM on the Museum waiting for me from a fella named Jay in Australia that basically says, "Hey Ryan, since you're into cruisers check out this link...". It's an ad posted the night before for a Laguna cruiser and a phone number.

Next thing I know I'm driving 6 hours to Modesto, CA to pick up this heap. What can I say...the price was right...

4130 Laguna frame
Rear hub dated 12/79.....front dated 12/80
B.S. stamped Dirt Skirt
Persons seat

Seat post is stuck. I hit some of the surface rust on the Cook Bros fork with some 0000 steel wool and it shined up like new.

Stoked!

Love the Van Halen sticker.

Man, that fork and stem alone were worth the six hour drive.

Once you get it cleaned up and ditch the seat and tires, that's gonna be one sweet ride! :D

Yeah the stickers rule!

I gotta get this seatpost unstuck and clean her up, check the hubs...and yes...ditch those hideous tires!

The Cook Bros uni-clamp stem/fork combo is super rare, especially in a 26"...super stoked on that. OG decals are a bonus. :D

I have struggled with stuck seat posts in the past...not fun.

I've tried the soaking method and the stem clamped to it with a fork for leverage trick and never had much luck.

I always end up stripping the entire frame down to just the frame and seat post, turning the frame upside down, clamping the seat post in a vice until it starts to crush it and then I start turning the frame back and forth until it breaks loose.

It seems kind of scary when you're doing it, but the times I have done it, it's been successful.

Sacrilege!

This is a BMX cruiser and shall remain a BMX cruiser thus sayeth yoothgeye.

I saw one of those stems go for like $800 on eBay.

So sweet! And the tires add a nice femenin touch. Lol, jk.

Im not much of a bmx guy anymore, but we all were when we were kids. That ones a bit early for me to remember new but i remeber the cruisers and always thought they were so cool. Man i had all but forgot about ACS rims, super cool.
