A friend is an electrician. He also owns several classic cars. I need electrical work on my back yard pergola. So I'm trading a muscle bike for parts and work. It's going to be a Huffy Dragster. Paint will be a fade based on colors of two of his cars. We'll figure that at eventually. I don't have "before" pic... but here's the frame.

Started a tube of Oxilic Acid this morning. Going to pound through the rust on and in the rims, plus the front rim of another build, along with some other misc. parts.
Is it just the perspective, or is that other front rim REALLY big?

I discovered oxalic acid for rust removal this summer. Good stuff.

This bike has been waiting on wheels to move forward. Delays caused by my other projects’ wheels have kept this bike at a stand still. Tonight I laced them while watching the end of a very disappointing 49ers defeat... (stupid brand new kicker!!).

I am not a fan of coasters. I had to go to my gallery to see how many I’ve actually built. 3 is the number, before this one. Only 3.

Anyway, next I have to tension, the true them. That’ll come when I can squeak out time to do so. The rest of this build needs these wheels to move forward... but this build isn’t the top priority, so we’ll see when.

This project got set aside mid-MBBO... like the rest of my projects. But since it was the easiest, it went together relatively quickly. Here and there over the winter I poked at it. The biggest hurdle was the rear fender and getting the braces figured out for length, and set up.

it’s a coaster Dragster, but like many of the time, I wanted it to have a front brake. So I drilled in a mount and set it up.

and then I got everything set. So this is it.

Since that last picture was taken, I’ve torn it down, had all the necessary parts sand blasted, and most recently it was sealed. It should be back in my hands soon for paint prep, then off to the booth for some fresh purple.

I had an old decal of the original “Dragster”, which looked like this:

It’s was so old that when I set it on the chain guard, the decal was covered in glue from the protective covering. I tried to wipe it clean with alcohol, but it didn’t come off. So, I removed it. This offered an opportunity to change my direction. I looked around at some Huffy images, and I really liked the drag car on the original Rail.

So I contacted a decal maker who sold that Rail drag car, and he was able to change the words inside the car. Done deal!

I’ve got to build my daughter something like that. She wants a purple “Mike’s bike” - Mike being from their favorite show “Stranger Things”.
I’m trying decide if I want to use this 20” Murray built Ted Williams or build it from this 24” Murray:

How old is she? My daughter was 9 when I finished her 24". It was too big. So I sold it. But she rocketed up in height, now I'm scrambling to finish her next 24". She's 12 now.

She’s about to be 11, but pretty comfortably rides 24” bikes now. That said, the seat on 24” muscle bike would need to be a little lower than normal. She rides the 20” Murray Apple Cart a lot now, but she’s complains about it a little now because she’s gotten used to her JC Higgins, which she rides more than any of them.
The Higgins and the red Murray are both 24‘s.
