Images post sideways, any solution?

So, when I post from my iPhone (7) it seems any photo I have taken holding the phone vertical (with the home button at the bottom) loads and posts sideways when attached here. I searched the forum and saw it was happening to other people, but didn't see anybody had a solution to it. I know the easy fix is to take pictures horizontal with the home button to the right (otherwise they will be upside down), but I'm just wondering if I'm missing another solution for pictures I can't go back and take again, without screenshotting them and uploading them that way?

Also, what do these arrows do when you are making a post? Seems like they are for rotating images, but I couldn't get them to do anything?

Hmmm...I just realized, I've never had this happen. I wonder if it is just one of those unique 'features' of the iphone (I post pics from my motorola android)...or if it is the way I'm posting them. For instance, I don't use tapatalk.

For the iphone rotation... I have found that if you edit the photo, rotate it somewhere other than the original orientation, save it, then rotate again to the desired orientation, even if it is the same as when you started, it will upload fine.

Working hypothesis: the iphone, ever knowing better than we, tries to rotate it to the 'best' orientation. By doing a manual edit rotation, it saves the orientation like a manual override.

The arrows show 'undo' and 'redo' when I hover the mouse over them on a computer.

Yeah I figured out if I take a screenshot of the image the way I want the screenshot will post fine. Just curious why it does it in the first place. No one seems to have figured it out.

If they show up wrong when they're taken vertically...
then don't take the pictures with your phone vertical.
You also can edit posts you've made here, afterwards.
Just rotate the picture in your phone with any photo ap,
then edit your post with the new photo.

I have an android 8 and have no problems with it...
