Ok guys, I'm putting up a little thread of how I built my heavy bike.
Here's a few photos that I took along the way...
2012-04-22131518.jpg

The futon frame and scaffold tubes to make up the main part of the frame.

Tubes now cut down a bit.

And yes, I used a stick welder

The head tube mounted and the rear wheel with the middle cut out, it was a car space saver spare.

Spokes welded into the rear wheel, onto a widened single speed bicycle hub.
And a test mock up of the bike to see how it rolled..

A couple more pics, with the cranks fitted and bars changed

This was how I took it to London for a ride around

I then changed the forks as I thought the front looked a bit weedy..

And started to fit the seat as the foam one compressed after a while and became sore as it was only ever temporary

Love the bike, but that train picture just put it over the top!

Well done! 8)

Luke.

AGREE! I saw Gonzo Riding his bike through central London (on video!) and first question i asked was how the heck!! Cool build tho yeah!!

Before I took it over to Holland for fbi I decided I needed to be able to stop better...

Took it for a test ride and the front fell off

So I welded it back on again

Added a truck air horn and a weedkiller bottle to pump it up and a few details before loading up for fbi

Excellent! Love how you've used mostly scrap to create this beast 8) . That train photo is great, what did they make of your bike in "that London"?
Those beefier forks have really improved the bike and they've made a nice, subtle change to its stance 8) Great use of that weed killer bottle too.

p.s thumbs up on the shovel seat as well :D
