Hope it holds!
But honestly, i am not so sure. In my experience all the bent posts that were not reinforced got broken and bent further. And i am not at all a heavy rider.

I've seen this done before. Apparently it works, but the one time I wanted to try it was on an old Huffy with the odd sized seat post (because I couldn't find a ready built post the right size). Couldn't find any pipe to fit close enough. 1/2" was too big and the thought of 3/8" pipe with a ton of shims didn't seem like good engineering practice! LOL
