Here is Gundelach, the Early 1970 Raleigh Mk1 Chopper that I picked up from a local salvage guy and did a partial restoration on. Look for this to be auctioned off in January. It is one of the very early short frame Choppers that Raleigh brought into the US.

Here is the build thread

And here is another before pic of why I chose the build name. This is the original store decal just below the seat.

Here are a couple of walkaround videos of the finished bike.

Very nice. The photo with the 'no cycling' warning is way cool.

That stencil has been there for a few years now near the fountain that I always take pics in front of. It's only been a couple of months since I first thought of using the NO CYCLING as a backdrop itself. I love it too.

Terrific work! A straight restoration is a bit out of your norm, so it was good to see you keep this completely stock, and brought back to life!

Actually whenever I find bikes that are as original as this one, I usually do deep clean and maybe polishing compound followed by boiled linseed oil. But I always do all of this as part of prepping it for better resale. This isn't much different than that. Just no BLO and more brightwork. But my plan all along for this one was to prep it for sale. i don't have time to ship it before Christmas vacation, so it will be going on the auction block in January.

I love the looks of these Raleigh's. Super cool to see one thats this clean.

SALE PENDING

What did you do to clean up the chrome? How did the sale end up going?

I used 000 steel wool and wd40 on the chrome. I ended up selling this one for $1200
