hey yall.
i tried the fixie thing. its fun for effing around, but i really cant be riding a no brake fixie to work at 6:30 am every morning.
so anyway, here is the before shot. i know most of you have seen this one already.

i sold the wheels, put on the honey brown Brooks my girlfriend bought me for xmas, some alloy moustache bars, and took off the clips.
i added a 26 x 1 3/8" wheelset with a coaster brake, some kenda gumwalls.
the bike is still really light, and rides awesome! a fun, easy ride to work and back.
let me know what you all think. i know its not all flashy now, but i wanted a more classic look.

Re: Blink's Raleigh - Reconfigured to commute!

I like it very much. nice and practical. I just claimed my '78 Raleigh Record from my parents garage and plan to make a similar bike at some point. Good job!!

Re: Blink's Raleigh - Reconfigured to commute!

Very cool, Blink. I am really liking the commuter/tourist look. What did you use for decals and would they stick to a flat finish?

Re: Blink's Raleigh - Reconfigured to commute!

Nice. Why not try an internal hub?

alright, i put the chrome 26" wheels on another bike i flipped.
i missed the white deep dish wheels.

i found these on craigs locally for half what they go for on ebay.
threw some maxxis detonators on it.
rides wonderfully.

Is it still a skidder? I really like this bike.

coaster brakes. so yeah, its a skidder to me!

oh, and we rode 17 miles saturday in the 99 degree heat.
fun stuff!

Great looking 1x1.

I'm always looking at ways to use the original tabs and mounting holes to keep the look factory (either that or grind tem off!) I think a glass reflector would look good in the old rear brake mounting hole. I've got no ideas for the old deraleur hanger though..

Nice update. I think a skinny tire coaster brake bike would be fun to have.
