Hello Friends,
This post could have actually fit on some other threads. I am still wandering if this is the right one. Anyways, I have a Apple Krate seat that im hoping can be identified. It was sold to me as a "original" however I have my doubts. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I am eventually going to sell. It is old new stock. It does have a couple of ID stickers and "Persons" is branded on the tray. It is in excellent condition. Year? Model? Value?
Thanks,
Red
I am hoping that this link will give you access to my entire album?
Thanks again!!!

Well, it's a beauty! But, the barcode on the package gave me pause, so I did some research. It turns out that Persons-Majestic (aka Permaco) is still pumping out saddles to this day; just not at the pace they once did.

So...technically...that saddle is both "original" and "genuine," but I doubt it is vintage. It appears the most recent Apple Krate re-pop was in 1998, so I suspect that is the year of production.

The 90s Apple Krate popped into my mind as well. The only pic I could find of the underside of those seats had only a Schwinn stamp across the pan more towards the seatpost clamp...no persons or permaco stampings I could see (I would doubt they would source the seat from a US company, anyway...would just be part of the Taiwan package).

Also, the originals I've looked at all have reflector tab mounts, and the permaco sticker is black and round.

So...I think RustyS called it, probably a later Permaco replacement seat.

Jason
