Ha! Just ran into the dilema : skip chain with no master link! Found one link that has a slit (or may even be a crack) in it. Can't pop it off like most master links, wonder if it was pressed on like a motorcycle chain? Did you press your pin out or use a motorcycle style chain breaker?
 
You scored on those fenders! I have to agree with your choice to leave it bare metal. Every time I re do a bicycle I debate leaving it bare.

My friend picked up a 41 Elgin about 3 weeks ago. He wanted one he could paint and this tanker had previously been painted.

A couple of days ago he picked up 2 more Elgins and sold me the mens bicycle yesterday. I am going to re do it since it too had been repainted at one time. Lookin for a long tank and some truss rods if you have any laying around (lol).
