1976 Schwinn Suburban Pair

Picked up a pair of old Schwinn 5 speeds on Sunday. They are in almost like new condition, a few scrapes and scuffs but just a little dusty. Obviously garage stored for most of their days. I didn't really want the ladies but it seemed a shame to separate them and the pair price was better. The original owners manuals came with them, they were purchased on 3-18-76. Models 524 and 569.

I washed the men's bike tonight. Some minimal rust on handlebar from a scrape. Tightened a couple of fender brace bolts and rear reflector. That eliminated a couple of rattles. It is a very smooth stable riding bike shifts well for an old 5 speed. The generator and both lights work, brakes could probably use some fresh pads.
Sure not a rat rod but a cool old bike with working old technology, Schwinn Built Quality.

Now I need to look the ladies bike over.

They went to a nice young couple today. They had looked at them yesterday at a swap meet I went to.
The young lady brought a bell with her to put on her “new” old bike along with a screw driver and installed it before they loaded them up. They said they were headed to a local park for a ride. Glad to seem going to a new home as a pair.
