1969 Hercules Royal Geoffery

I picked this one up the other night. It has a Sturmey rear hub and plate.

I may run it like this until I find a Huret deraileur set up. I'm thinking of a 3 speed coaster, a front brake and a pair of Major Taylor for bars.

I love the geometry of that frame, looks like a 'proper gentleman's' ride.

The chain ring looks just like the on my Hercules. (avatar pic) I never could date the bike, but it is probably mid to late 60's. I've got the same rear hub also. How were you able to find out it was made in 69?

I had read on a web site that they were made in '69. But yesterday I read somewhere that a guy bought one new in '65. Somewhere in that time period. The chain ring is sweet, should polish up ok.

The serial number is up on the lug at the top of the seat tube. Mine is 279990, but so far no one can say if they had numbers in any kind of order.
