I'm in, after a break for a couple of years.
I built a great bike a year ago, to be my everyday transport. A lot of thought into frame design, motor etc for max performance. Half way collecting parts, I came across another style of bike frame, that I loved, but could not afford, as way overpriced for voltage etc. So being a stubborn ole mule I stuck to my guns and went with my original thought.
But it has been playing in my mind over and over, and thought hey! build one...
So I found a cheap whole bike here in Greece. 130€ ($156). Only thing I did not know, was it had a alloy frame. I don't have the welding skills or correct equipment, so I will manipulate it and join it with bolts.
Main thing is support my weight and take the torque that I will place on it. If not plan B buy a steel frame from Italy, or recently the frame I actually want has popped up on occasions, but only from UK. Uk is no longer part of EU, so customs is a !!!!. And with all the C-19 shipping is slow, no work due to 6mths lockdown = lack of funds. But my plan is to have the bike rolling rideable and I hope with a 52v mid drive and 48v or 52v battery.
This is what I am starting with.

The moment I picked the bike up from the port, I have been calling it CHUBBY.
I have new Tektro Hydraulic brakes for it (40€ )
Either I will make the forks or purchase a set, will know by Sunday.

Oh yeah !!! it's Greek Easter here. So Sunday is reserved for eating a whole lot of lamb and egg cracking. And beer of course...

Thanks KF, they just had the service at 9 and not at 12, due to curfew. A lot of fireworks and packed streets. So much for lockdown. keeping it real with a couple of friends.

One of the first things I need to do, is cut in 4 places, then heat and raise the rear seat stays to run parallel to the downtube. Hopefully all will work out without any cracks. Slow & steady.

Funk is back! Looking forward to your framework on ol' chubby there. The aluminum tubes could be quite the challenge.
Just googled 'Greek Easter', as that was a new one on me. Julian calendar, huh? Cool.

Christos Anesti ! ....and....RaT oN~!

Yep been a out for a couple of years, feels good to be back... The tubes are going to be interesting, if all fails, then I will need to purchase a frame.

Nice score off ebay last night, saved 73euros...
Total cost with shipping 82euro.

Nice deal on a triple tree!

Nice deal on a triple tree!
Sure was. Brand new. He had purchased for a build and never used it a year ago. 135 euro and 20 euro shipping would have cost me. It's on its way. Hopefully soon and not in a mths time.

So today being a crazy windy Sunday, I started digging out parts etc. A few bits n bobs laying around in storage. Maybe or maybe not, they will be used. I also have brown bottle grips.

Cut up a heap of pipes today. From various trash picked up near bins .

White are from old arm chairs1620567667658.png
Chrome are from a old clothes rack1620567880282.png
And the red from a kids 4 wheel pedal car1620567992770.png
Noticed on the frame is a decal of melting something

Hence the name Butterball Bandit.

Dismantled the bike down to just the frame.

The first cut is the deepest. No going back now.

Set up the jack, applied a little heat and very slowly let Jack do all the work.

Perfect position. 2 little minor boo boos, when bending.
1. Moved the holes for the brakes.(but can be solved by mounting another part on. 2. A small crack in the dropouts(should be able to fill it). Not a major issue.

The adapter I can bolt on.

Decided to chop down more of the rear stays. This way I can rivet on and my weight will keep it pinned down anyway. Grinded a couple of cable holders off and down they slide.

Perfect . Everything is just the right size, and easy to slide in. The good thing is I can weld all of it together, and add cable holders etc, where needed. Eventually I will shape the pipes into darts or something, so it looks a bit smarter.

A little mock up.

The interesting part will be mounting the top pipes onto the front. I figured bolting and making a curved plate to go around with rivets, should keep it all in place. If all else fails then, I will purchase a 24" steel frame from Italy(100 euros).

But prefer the one I have as it has thick tubing, better shape.

So Falstaff, knows where I am going with this... There are many companies now that make 204 E-Bikes (20x4) shaped like the old 70's minibikes. One of the companies is Super 73. A few types but expensive. 1600euro for the z1-250w 36v.(snorefest zzzz)1620570864567.png
The SG1 and 2, well over 3,000 euro.
1620570989410.png
And the latest RX, the bees knees, at 4,500 euro, can deliver same sort of power as the bafang 1000w-1500w. But sadly has many electrical issues, and bad service, leaves buyers with nothing.
1620571212162.png
Many other companies followed like Unimoke
1620571335061.png
who also do a BMX version UDX. Full suspension, half and without.1620571456668.png
They are called many names Urban E-bike, Monkey, Mario bike and so on.
Many frame styles ,step thru, etc.
Other companies are Synch, Ariel rider, Barracuda and so on.
I fell in love with the Barracuda frame(also ariel rider, pegas bikes etc use the same frame.) All built in China.

So the bikes out of the box now, no secrets. And why do I like this frame? Hold my beer!!!!.

You didn't have to spill the beans because of me...but thanks for thinking of me.

Too busy to keep my builds a secret, everyone else does that. Besides there will be a added bonus. And thinking of entering in class1.

Well, I wouldn't say everyone else. I typically build too fast to keep any secrets. :wink1: :nerd:
