Cool thanks for the tip. Did you apply a protective layer after painting or just sprayed the paint? I am asking this because they recommand "Permacoat Xtreme" as a top layer but I was wondering whether this would make it look shiny (like a clear coat). At the same time, without it the paint may...

    VINTAGE BICYCLE PHOTOS

Great thread. I'll throw a couple of pictures taken from this website: http://www.oldbike.eu/museum/ It is basically an online museum about vintage bicycles and the history of bicycle, lots of antiques, crazy stuff and useful informations - worth having a look in my opinion.

Well that sucks I didn't realize that... I understand you totally concerning the price for a build because I do have the same approach, otherwise you don't have to wait for long before the price for such projects goes sky high. I find it already hard to complete a build whithin the boundaries...

Seriously?!? Wow it seems it is not only rare on my side of the Atlantic then...

Yes we do have distributors for these forks. But I have a weak spot for those: very hard to find I must say. Don't you call them "beehive springer forks"?

Haha excellent but you will have ship it with a beehive springer fork :D! It is one of the other amazing stuff you have that are too rare here!

    Steampunk rat from the 20s

I just had a look to yout shifter, it is indeed very cool, that is inspiration for a future build!

That sounds good, I will keep that in mind for when I will find room for an additional bike! That is a pretty good price indeed. I'm afraid that from what I found on Ebay, shipping costs are prohibitive however...

I also do  Well, I not a specialist but from my experience if we do get American bikes, then it will mostly be mountain bikes (hence quite recent - late 80s early 90s not older I think) and regarding road bikes, they will look pretty "classic" if we have any (nothing to be enthusiast...

    Steampunk rat from the 20s

Thanks for your positive comments, that is the best reward I can get for the hard work!

Thanks a lot! Well I may be wrong but from my experience I would say that frames such as western flyers, schwinn, spaceliner, etc. are extremely seldom here. When I look at the fresh finds section of the forum, it seems that the average find would be considered kind of exceptional in France...

Interesting, I didn't know Roger Dean before, his work is definitly worth a look. One a side note: May I ask you how do you make this "real rust finish"? I'm very interested because it looks very natural.

Well, I'm new to the scene and I can't tell much about it. There is a french guy here (Irzouts) that does pretty crazy things: His blog is definitely worth a look. Apart from that, there is at least one online forum for french customs: http://custombrigad.com/ Overall I'd say that the...

    All Terrain Cruiser

Wow this looks real good. Quite cool to see mountain bikes on here. Did you try it offroad?

    Greetings from France

Absolutely, it is true that we have quite some bike antiques such as rod brakes, spoon brakes or wooden rims. At the same time, I realize that in America you have a broad range of amazing springer forks with very different mechanisms. This is something that you hardly find on European bikes...

Ok I may have misunderstood you then. I guess a typo made you skip the negation here: and you actually meant: is that right? Then I couldn't agree more ;).

Awesome bike, the overall look reminds me a bit of "art nouveau", yet it looks fast and very fun to ride! One of the sickest and most beautiful bike I've seen in a while if you ask me. Very impressive and inspiring work.

Awesome, neat looking bike - I love it! That must be a heck of a ride especially offroad. Back to the roots of mountain biking .

    Greetings from France

Funny that you say this, I guess this is mostly due to importers then. I'm far from being a specialist about custom bikes and I may be totally wrong but I do have the feeling you guys tend to have more wild and crazy stuff on your side of the Atlantic (after all most if not all of this custom...

Huffy Cranbrook " Rattitude Adjustment "

Well, this made my day! I love the before/after contrast: completely different bikes you transformed a shitbike into an amazing rat! The end result is simply stunning. Congrats, I like a lot especially the detailed procedure with patina.
