    Today's Flea Market Score

I got the bike at the Hartville Flea Market in Northeast Ohio. Not much auto manufacturing nearby. That certainly doesn't mean that the bike didn't do a little traveling. Not so far from Toledo and Detroit, where the auto plants are located. I appreciate the comments. Thanks!

I added a pic of the welds, as well as a view of the other side of the bike.

HI J. The welds appear to be factory. Very clean. It looks like it was made this way.

    Today's Flea Market Score

I bought this bike today at the Hartville Flea Market (south of Akron, OH). The serial number is located on the left dropout. 5H051536. Huffy? The rear rack appears to be from the factory. The fork is solid, not tubular. It's a great riding bike. I was tooling around Kent all afternoon. Was it...

    My first classic bike score.

I bought this 1971 Fair Lady for my daughter for Christmas. It's the same bike that her mom had when she was my daughter's age. I got it at the same thrift store that I got the Firestone... and the same price. 50 bucks. This photo is after I cleaned it up. fairlady00.jpeg by rlightbody, on...

I picked up this Firestone this morning.

OK. it didn't take much convincing to keep the paint. I turned it over yesterday. The serial number is 178-1-111. Is that a clue? You know, I don't really care. I love the bike and will put some serious mileage on it. I guess it's just cool to know the origin. The more I explore the site and...

I picked up this Firestone this morning.

You guys are great. Yeah, I agree that the bike is way cool just how it is. I love the paint, but it's not nearly spotless. I'll be looking around here for tips on cleaning it up and protecting it. I wish I had a warm place to work on it. I can't stand the thought of waiting until spring. Thanks!

Thanks guys. I was guessing early 70s, but what do I know? That's why I'm here. I've got a lot to learn. I want to rat it out and use it for a rider. As I said earlier, y'all are very inspirational. I'm spending hours poking around here. Thanks again!

I picked up this Firestone this morning.

I scored this Firestone this morning at a local thrift store. I've been eyeballing it for a week, waiting for it to go 1/2 off. They wanted 100 bucks for it and I couldn't swing that. . . Well, it's senior citizen's day today! I had to get an old guy to walk it through the checkout for me. :D...

    Greetings from Detroit-ish, MI!

Hi Everybody! This site is VERY inspirational. I'm 48 years old, a child of the 70s. My brother and I, and all my neighborhood friends all had Stingrays or Crate bikes of various flavors. . . and we tore 'em up. Kinda makes me wince thinking back on it. Anyway, I've scored a couple of good...
